The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing Department of Acute and Tertiary Care invites applications for the position of full-time non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor in the Doctor of Nursing (DNP) program. The UT Health Science Center embraces four missions: education research clinical care and institutional service.



Responsibilities

This faculty position will be responsible for final development coordination and teaching within the DNP Program: Nurse Executive Concentration. There may be teaching responsibilities outside of the Nurse Executive Concentration. The UT Health Science Center embraces four missions: education research clinical care and institutional service. Position includes educational responsibilities along with service leadership and scholarship responsibilities.

As concentration coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures in conjunction with the CON faculty to ensure that the outcome criteria as mandated by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and specialty organizations are met.
  • Responsible for concentration-specific recruitment and admissions curriculum review monitoring program/specialty standards coordinating clinical practice experiences and monitoring clinical contracts/placements.
  • Provides assistance and support to the concentration faculty and orients preceptors.
  • Tracks and evaluates student evaluations of the concentration.
  • Actively engages in the identification and expansion of concentration-specific clinical experiences.
  • Ensures that the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs IOR and faculty advisors are aware of student progression issues.
  • Collaborate with Department Chairs to determine faculty assignments within the concentration.
  • Allows growth of faculty teaching within the concentration by providing support to IORs who have overall responsibility and oversight of courses to which they are assigned.
  • Counsels students to ensure program completion and success by following the provided plans of study.
  • Recommendations needed for changes in student plans of study.
  • Functions as a resource for other faculty within the concentration and/or the DNP program when addressing areas of concern related to student performance.
  • Reviews concentration content annually to ensure that course content is current.
  • Collaborate with DNP concentration coordinators and other interprofessional colleagues to promote interprofessional experiences.
  • Monitors and tracks concentration certification pass rates and graduation rates.
  • Actively engages in concentration-specific specialty organizations.

Teaching responsibilities include both didactic coursework and experiential supervision of students. Research/scholarship activities as well as service responsibilities will be determined in collaboration with the Department Chair.



Qualifications

EDUCATION:Earned Doctoral Degree from an accredited university required.

LICENSE:Certification/recertification as an Executive Nurse preferred. Must be eligible to sit for certification. Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice nurse in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee required.

EXPERIENCE:Substantive expertise is required as a Nurse Executive with completion of a DNP degree in Nurse Executive or Nurse Leadership. Expertise in teaching and active engagement in appropriate professional organizations is highly desirable. Evidence of scholarship including research and/or grants is desirable.
