DescriptionUnder the direction of the Supervisor Fleet the Fleet Technician is responsible for assisting the Supervisor Fleet in the servicing of the Municipal Fleet and equipment including annual motor vehicle safety inspection preventative maintenance procedures and associated documentation/record-keeping and liaison duties; mobile repair service for fire vehicles and other equipment as required maintaining shop area in a clean and safe manner and vehicle/equipment operation as assigned.
RequirementsCurrent Provincial Class A Mechanics Licence Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Automotive Service Technician (310S) an asset.
Emergency Vehicle Technician Certificate (E.V. T. Fire) is preferred.
Class G Drivers License in good standing. Class DZ Drivers License in good standing anasset.
Thorough working knowledge of vehicle systems in the areas of gas and diesel engines electrical systems computer controlled systems fuel injection driveline transmission braking systems body work hydraulic systems heating and air conditioning steering and suspension welding and fabrication water systems snow ploughs and equipment wheels/tires.
Good organizational interpersonal problem-solving record-keeping computer software programs and analytical skills.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with staff general public other departments and suppliers.
Flexibility/availability to work scheduled overtime and/or respond to after hours emergencies as required for equipment repairs snow removal water/waste water calls etc.
Ability to operate dump trucks front-end loader snowplough and other related equipment.
