Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Fields & Grounds the fulltime Groundskeeperwill assist in the overall maintenance including playing surfaces and stadium grounds. This is an hourly paid position.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $21.00

About the Venue

Snapdragon Stadium is a 35000-seat multipurpose venue that serves as the home for San Diego State University football San Diego Wave FC (NWSL soccer) San Diego Legion (MLR rugby) San Diego FC (MLS) major concerts and festivals professional sports motorsports international soccer high school sports entertainment events and private special events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the field preparation for Concerts Events Soccer NWSL game MLS games San Diego State Football and other College Athletics.
  • Organization and cleanliness of the grounds shop.
  • Preparation for games and other stadium events.
  • Field cleanup and repair following games.
  • Safe Operation of grounds equipment.
  • Set up and removal of grow and rain tarps.
  • Ability to use focus on a speaker using verbal and non-verbal clues to understand their message comprehend the information and respond thoughtfully.
  • Creative and innovative; the ability to see alternatives and solutions.
  • Ability to achieve planned objectives through completing relevant tasks and focus.
  • Ability to work potential overnight field conversions & concerts.

Qualifications

The individual must possess the following knowledge skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  • Follow explicit oral and written instructions; communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Turfgrass knowledge & experience is preferred
  • Prior field painting experience is preferredbut not required
  • Ability to obtain applicators license
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Ability to work independently exercising judgment and initiative.
  • The ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • The ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work nights weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Effectively work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate with employees co-workers volunteers management staff and guests in a clear professional and courteous manner which fosters a positive enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to speak read and write in English.
  • Ability to consistently adhere to the highest standards of integrity professionalism ethics and confidentiality.
