The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance with GAAP and company policies. This role prepares and reviews journal entries account reconciliations and monthly close activities while providing analytical support to management. The Senior Accountant also partners cross-functionally to improve processes support audits and drive continuous improvement in financial controls.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute month-end close process tasks for Reporting Business Units including preparation of journal entries accruals and reconciliation to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Perform monthly commission and rebates calculations.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts to eliminate discrepancies and ensure proper consolidation.
- Own the preparation of assigned balance sheet reconciliations ensuring compliance with internal deadlines and accurate/complete reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function. Implement best practices and automation solutions to streamline workflows increase efficiency and enhance accuracy
- Work with internal and external auditors ensuring audit requests are provided in a timely manner and support the financial statements.
- Provide financial support and analysis to other functions of the business including Sales Operations Tax Operational finance and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
- Address other ad hoc accounting items and projects as they arise demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting - CPA a plus.
- A minimum of 4 years accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Proven ability to be proactive and self-starting in identifying and resolving issues with a track record of implementing process improvements and driving efficiencies.
- Must be detail-oriented individual
- Strong Excel skills including advanced functions such as pivot tables VLOOKUP and data analysis tools.
- Commitment to continuous process improvement.
- Proficiency in ERP systems financial reporting tools and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position may require over 40 hours per week and includes regular physical activity such as:
- Primarily sedentary work requiring extended periods of sitting while working at a computer
- Ability to communicate effectively in person via phone and through virtual collaboration tools
- Occasional standing walking and movement during meetings site visits or travel
- Ability to lift and carry light materials (up to 15 lbs) occasionally such as a laptop or presentation materials
- Ability to travel periodically for business needs including visiting distribution centers suppliers stores or industry events
- Office environment includes standard business equipment such as computers phones and conferencing tools
- Periodic exposure to warehouse distribution center or store environments which may include noise temperature variation and moving equipment
- Travel may require visits to supplier locations trade shows or customer sites
