The Role

The Quality Systems Execution Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing automated measurement systems that support body and vehicle dimensional quality. This includes leading the design integration installation and validation of automated measurement and tooling systems across Body-in-White (BIW) General Assembly (GA) and vehicle-level applications.

This role begins within a centralized Manufacturing Engineering organization and transitions to the assembly plant environment during launch requiring strong initiative independent judgment and the ability to influence crossfunctional teams.

What Youll Do

  • Partner with ME Body Quality BIW/GA Manufacturing Engineers Commodity Integration groups Controls/Robotics/Conveyance teams Launch Execution and Plant Dimensional personnel to develop automated measurement solutions.

  • Develop detailed zone processes conversion timing and cost estimates for new and existing programs; ensure all deliverables meet program timing.

  • Create Statements of Requirements (SORs) for sourcing measurement tooling and automation equipment systems.

  • Develop dimensional measurement strategies in collaboration with VDQM Body & GA Quality Leads and Plant Dimensional teams.

  • Lead system development from concept through processing tool design construction integration installation and dimensional validation at assembly plants or metal centers.

  • Deliver a tunedin body that meets Manufacturing Validation requirements including MV1 and PED114 standards.

  • Drive lessons learned and continuous improvement activities incorporating updates into standards procedures processes and tool designs.

  • Lead project teams by managing deliverables timing investment resources and ongoing problem solving.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 35 years of experience in Body Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Experience managing suppliers and integrators to ensure timely project delivery.

  • Handson experience with GA vision system installation and validation on moving conveyor lines (e.g. Eines or inline inspection camera systems).

  • Background in Body Shop automated system development including processing design construction and integration.

  • Expertise in Body Manufacturing and Assembly Processes with experience in dimensional quality and/or measurement systems.

  • Working knowledge of statistics and GD&T.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead motivate and instruct others crossfunctionally or crossculturally.

  • High level of analytical and problemsolving capability.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and demonstrate strong teamwork skills.

  • Ability to multitask and manage diverse assignments concurrently.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with inspection systems using both moving and fixed camera technology.

  • Body shop launch and plant operations experience.

  • Handson troubleshooting experience with tooling issues.

  • Background in dimensional process control.

  • Knowledge of throughput simulation models.

  • Familiarity with Teamcenter Visualization Mockup.

  • Prior manufacturing processing and/or launch experience.

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. The selected candidate will be required to travel at least 50% or more on a frequent basis. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
