Description of Work
This Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team of qualified professionals providing early childhood intervention and family support resources to children birth through five years of age with or at risk for disabilities and their families. The Speech and Language Pathologist has specific responsibility for providing speech and language assessments and evaluations for children who have more complex diagnoses. The Speech and Language Pathologist will also be responsible for providing speech-language intervention to enrolled children instructing parents and other caregivers in communication-related activities to attain desired outcomes and providing consultation and technical assistance to other staff and community paraprofessionals professionals and agencies. The Speech and Language Pathologist also participates in activities to support FIPPs mission of providing a broad range of family-centered resources engaging in research studies and providing professional development and resources to the early intervention community at large.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Trainees will be considered if there are no fully qualified applicants.
Trainee Appointment - Masters degree in speech and language pathology from an appropriately accredited institution as required by the N.C. licensing statute (G.S.90-292) to be eligible for granting of a temporary license issued by the N.C. Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathologist and Audiologist. The temporary license must be obtained before the first day of employment. Upon receipt of permanent license (9 - 12 months) employee may move into full class.
This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)
Shift Hours: 1st shift (8:00 am 5:00 pm) Monday Friday with variation as needed.
The Family Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) is a community-based component of the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. FIPP is an early childhood intervention and family support program that has been producing research and providing supports and services in western North Carolina since 1972. The overall mission of the program is to (1) promote optimal health and development of young children especially those with or at risk for disabilities through supporting and strengthening families in ways that enhance their growth and well-being; and (2) promote the dissemination of research resources and professional development opportunities to improve the delivery of services to families and children.
