ToyotasEnterprise AI Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedManager AI Platform Operations.
The primary responsibility of this role is to work with the team to rapidly design develop deploy and scale production-quality advanced AI solutions that follow responsible AI practices and drive innovation and operational excellence across Toyotas business units.
Reporting to the Managing AI Engineer the person in this role will support the Enterprise AI departments objective to accelerate Toyotas AI capabilities and deliver impactful scalable AI-driven products and services.
This position is based in Plano TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.
What youll be doing
Develop and implement the strategic vision for AI applications within Toyota ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and driving transformative innovation across multiple business units.
Lead and inspire cross-functional teams in the design development and deployment of cutting-edge AI solutions guaranteeing that projects are delivered on time within scope and aligned with overarching business goals.
Provide expert technical guidance and management in machine learning deep learning hardware engineering and software engineering ensuring adherence to best practices while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Collaborate closely with senior leadership product managers and key stakeholders to identify high-impact AI opportunities define comprehensive project requirements and effectively communicate progress and outcomes.
Mentor and cultivate a high-performing team of AI engineers promoting professional development and career growth through targeted training performance feedback and leadership opportunities.
Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies in AI driving research initiatives that position Toyota as a leader in AI applications and solutions.
Identify and assess potential risks associated with AI projects implementing robust mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and ethical considerations.
Advise on architectural designs and establish technical requirements for scalable AI-oriented software systems.
Contribute to codebases for several different software projects and build infrastructure for new AI tools throughout the enterprise.
Work within a small team of engineers in a fast-paced environment to turn new AI research into real products and services.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree or similar education in computer science natural sciences mathematics statistics engineering or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing AI applications
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python Java JavaScript or C.
Demonstrated ability to lead andmentor technical teams fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Fluency in Terraform AWS Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure and experience in building infrastructure and tooling for cloud-based software.
Experience in Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g. Jira Trello) to effectively manage project timelines and deliverables.
Excellentverbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience and demonstrated track record of building and deploying hardware or software for AI training or autonomous systems.
Strong background in computer vision natural language processing autonomous driving robotics or general engineering of autonomoussystems.
Experience translating AI-related research into products through software engineering.
Passion for advancing the state of technology for the automotive industry and teaching AI to others.
Experiencein distilling feature requests from customers into technical requirements for an engineering team.
Equivalent and similar experience to the above items will also be considered.
Added bonus if you have
Relevant certifications in AI machine learning or project management (e.g. AWS Certified Machine Learning PMP).
Understanding of ethical considerations and regulatory requirements related to AI technologies.
Familiarity with AI applications in the automotive industry or related fields including autonomous systems predictive maintenance and customer experience enhancement.
Developed and/or managed RAG chatbots.
Strong understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow PyTorch Scikit-learn).
Fluency with cybersecurity tools and best practices for AI models cloud systems or vehicle software.
Experience training and fine-tuning deep learning models.
Experience overseeing budget allocations for engineering projects and forecasting financialsfor product development lifecycles.
Fluency in a vector database service like Pinecone or AWS OpenSearch.
Experiencein manufacturing or vehicle production plants.
Experience with data processing tools and techniques.
Understanding of object manipulation CAD or physics-based deep learning systems.
Proficiency in CUDA and/or training deep learning models with on-premise hardware.
Experiencein building agentic mechanisms MCP servers and other LLM-based tools.
Fluency in human factors design and UI/UX standards for modern software applications.
Strong background working with users to understand usage and frustration signals to help inform product adjustments.
Proficiency in the use and design of modern generative AI tools including large language models vision-language models vision-language actionmodels.
