Responsibilities
The Associate Underwriter - Casualty will work in a team setting underwriting and servicing new and renewal accounts for the development and retention of our Casualty Lines business. Strong focus on renewals.
- Production and underwriting of new and renewal account business of the following classes: Construction Products Liquor Liability Habitational Amusements and OL&T.
- Compliance with underwriting documentation rules and guidelines.
- Maintain an acceptable underwriting profit.
- Adherence to Admiral underwriting guidelines and referral compliance.
- Development and maintenance of key broker/agent relationships.
- Deliver timely and accurate quotes and endorsements to brokers ensuring responsive and reliable service.
- Participates in all internal company training and continuing education.
- Attends strategic marketing calls to key brokers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Completed coursework toward a Risk Management and Insurance Degree a plus.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience underwriting Commercial Lines with proficiency handling complex and high-hazard risks.
- Applicable coursework toward attainment of a CPCU or other related Insurance Designation(s) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the E&S marketplace.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial E&S Casualty strongly preferred.
- Ability to understand and execute priorities including underwriting appetite limit management and mix of business broker strategy and pricing/rate strategy.
- Strong organization skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical proficiency is required.

Base Salary Range: $70000 - $90000
The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the scope complexity and location of the role; the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
Eligible to participate in the annual discretionary bonus program.
