Title: Summer MAC Teacher Assistant
Work Duration: Monday-Friday alternating weeks hours from 7:15-4:15 and 8:30-5:30. End of May until mid-August.
Salary: Starting at $12.00 an hour depending on experience
Supervisor: Works under the Summer MAC Site Supervisor and Recreation Supervisor and/or Recreation Supervisor Asst.
Benefits: Seasonal employees that work 40 hours consistently shall receive free use of Park District facilities during their time of employment.
JOB SUMMARY
The central role of the summer MAC teacher aides is to assist with the classroom teachers daily plans. They must provide a safe and fun environment for the classroom. Teacher aides will collaborate with the classroom teacher and support the programs daily agenda. They will also keep the children safe and help handle any behaviors that may arise. The summer MAC teacher assistant will need to build relationships with children parents staff and school employees.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet parents and children as they arrive and leave. Be readily available to communicate with the parents about daily schedules behaviors etc.
- Help develop and implement daily activities crafts games etc.
- Must be hands on and participate with your classroom children throughout the day. This includes outside time free time art projects organized games gym time and field trips.
- Must be actively walking around the playground gym and classroom.
- Able to handle behavior concerns and make sure to inform the classroom teacher parents site supervisor and Recreation Supervisor.
- Follow and be consistent with discipline procedures
- Attend to injured/hurt children
- Able to fill out incident reports. Make sure the site supervisor and recreation supervisor are notified right away as the form needs to be turned in within 24 hours.
- Must communicate and work well with other summer MAC employees and school district employees
- Closing-make sure all doors and windows are closed and locked and lights are off in the building
QualificationsJOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Must be 14 years of age or older
- Must be able to work 40 hours a week for most of the summer
- Ability to maintain 1st Aid/CPR training course through Mandan Park District
- Experience working with elementary children
- Outgoing and fun personality
- Displays ability to work effectively with other summer MAC employees
- MAC employees are representing Mandan Park District on and off the job. MAC employees are asked not to wear their staff shirts in any non-tasteful establishments.
