About the Role

An exciting permanent part-time opportunity is available for a motivated reliable and customer-focused individual to join our supportive team in the Sterilising Department at cairns Private Hospital. The anticipated start date is February 2026. While a Certificate in Sterilisation Services and/or previous experience is desirable it is not essential and comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate.

In this role you will:

• Assist with the cleaning assembly inspection wrapping and sterilisation of surgical instruments and medical equipment for both internal clinical departments and external customers.
• Work collaboratively with Operating Theatre staff to ensure the timely delivery of sterile products trays and equipment.
• Contribute to a high-performing team environment that manages workflow efficiently and meets critical deadlines.
• Undertake manual handling tasks and work on your feet for the duration of your shift.

You will play a vital role in the surgical process and your ability to excel in a fast-paced environment will be key to your success.

Key Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position you will demonstrate:

• Certificate III in Sterilising Services (desirable).
• Previous experience as a Sterilising Services Technician (desirable).
• A positive attitude and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Strong interpersonal communication and time management skills.
• Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Sound understanding of the principles outlined in AS 5369:2023.
• Availability for Shift Work is essential
