Job Summary

Job Summary

Supports the promotion of GIS programs by providing marketing communications and social media coordination for the GIS Communications and Marketing Department. Creates and posts collateral aimed at the marketing and promotion of GIS value to members and other industry stakeholders through a variety of methods.

Helps implement a strategy for marketing of core GIS program offerings segmented by audience and geographic region.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides analysis strategy planning and development for social media and marketing communications campaigns.
  • Assists with the management of marketing initiatives.
  • Maintains branding across all forms of marketing communications and channels developing writing and producing effective campaigns and projects.
  • Coordinates marketing production in conjunction with designers and managers.
  • Writes and edits content for websites emails and social posts for the GIS suite of digital and social media platforms; ensures the execution of social media strategies; monitors social sentiment and community interactions across GIS global channels; helps shape and analyzes paid social campaigns.
  • Helps maintain GIS websites through Sitecore.
  • Writes edits and produces marketing emails. Coordinates multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously tracking results and providing analysis of efforts.

Key Relationships

  • Work with GIS program leads to facilitate the development of marketing and communication plans with GIS program leads to conduct market research for offerings and implement a strategic marketing strategy for all major GIS programs.

Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience in a marketing communications or project management role is preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in relevant area or other related field equivalent work experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal written and oral communications skills as well as presentation skills.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva and familiarity using social media management platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize problem-solve and collaborate with team members and external partners.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery meeting rooms etc. on occasion
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%

Percentage of travel time expected for the position where the travel occurs such as locally or in specific countries or states and whether the travel is overnight.

This salary range is DC based and may be adjusted accordingly based on the candidates geographic location. Candidates are typically hired at a point in the salary range based on prior experience education and market demand for the role; candidates are also compared internally to their peers.
