The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration Health Services Rehabilitation & Reentry Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!
Description of Work
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
This position is located at Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor NC. This position will primarily be operating our switchboard as well as provide support/backup to our mailroom. This position is characterized by their performance of a variety of administrative clerical and office support duties. This position requires knowledge of the office or working policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs functions and services. Duties performed may include but not limited to use of precise clear communication and good public contact Operation of a multi-line phone system and paging devices Provide information and connect callers to the correct departments Handle emergency calls and assist those needing special help Maintain calm under pressure and manage high call volumes greeting and assisting visitors clients staff and others processing and distributing internal and external mail and packages Input and comprehend computer generated data. Be able to navigate in OPUS regarding offenders records. This job requires some physical effort to include walking standing and normal office-type work.
Minimum Education and Experience
