Dietary Services Coordinator (Full-Time) Department: Dietary Reports To: Dietary Supervisor / Dietary Director FLSA: Non-Exempt Compensation: $15 to $17 Position Summary The Dietary Mentor provides daily operational support to ensure meals food safety practices and service standards meet organizational and regulatory requirements. This role mentors new hires assists with scheduling and interviews conducts quality checks and supports dietary operations across Assisted Living Center (ALC) Memory Assisted Care and Health Care Center (HCC). The Mentor also serves as a departmental lead when the supervisor or designated staff are absent. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Daily Food Service Operations - Complete daily refrigerator temperature checks to assess needs.
- Inspect refrigerators on units to ensure all items are labeled and dated correctly.
- Supervise the breakfast and lunch tray lines ensuring accuracy of meal trays timely service and compliance with dietary requirements.
- Rotate weekly menu spreadsheets and post large regulatory menus
- Monitor food safety ensure compliance with state regulations and report discrepancies.
Meal Ticket Management - Complete meal tickets for residents.
- Coordinate workload with Dietary Supervisor to ensure coverage when absent.
New Hire Training & Mentorship - Mentor new hires provide facility tours review schedules policies expectations and departmental standards.
- Train new employees according to their assigned shifts.
- Conduct in-services for staff when errors occur and provide corrective coaching.
- Address staff performance concerns and elevate issues to the Supervisor when needed.
Administrative & Compliance Tasks - Conduct weekly state-required in-service training within the department.
- Maintain and update work assignments as needed.
- Submit dented-can reports to GFS monthly.
- Attend town hall meetings as assigned.
Interviewing & Staffing Support - Review applications conduct pre-screens and schedule interviews.
- Participating in full interviews for candidates deemed a potential fit.
- Assist with contacting employees when callouts occur and help secure shift coverage.
Departmental Coverage Responsibilities - Support food order placement and inventory when designated staff are absent.
- Receive and check food deliveries.
- Cover tray line leadership duties when the Supervisor is out.
- Assist in maintaining scheduling tasks as assigned.
Qualifications (Recommended Standardization) - Experience in food service or healthcare dietary operations.
- Strong understanding of food safety labeling and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to train and mentor staff effectively.
- Strong communication skills professionalism and ability to address performance concerns.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead by example.
