The Consulting Associate will support Whitley Penns Public Sector clients by providing high-quality consulting services across a variety of accounting and compliance areas. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented analytical and passionate about helping governmental and nonprofit entities improve efficiency maintain compliance and achieve operational excellence.

How Will You Make an Impact
- Prepare bank reconciliations monitor accounts payable and p-cards for client organizations.
- Capital asset roll forward
- Conduct cash counts
- Perform agreed upon procedures for construction manager-at-risk engagements and ensure the contractor adhered to the guaranteed maximum price and contract provisions.
- Support school district efficiency audits under HB 3 86th Legislature.
- Assist with federal compliance testing including Single Audit requirements and grant compliance.
- Internal control reviews and business process improvement
- Review procurement processes for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Participate in internal audit engagements including risk assessments and control testing.
- Contribute to forensic accounting projects including fraud investigations and data analysis.
- Prepare clear and accurate workpapers reports and client deliverables in accordance with professional standards.
- Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and timely service delivery.
- Stay current on relevant accounting standards compliance requirements and industry best practices.
How Will You Get Here
- 02 years of experience in accounting auditing or consulting (internship experience considered).
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required.
- CPA or CPA eligibility preferred (or willingness to pursue certification).
- Familiarity with governmental accounting and compliance standards preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and commitment to quality.
