Data Entry/Receiving Clerk
A Data Entry/Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate records of incoming shipments verifying their contents and efficiently inputting relevant information into the companys database. This role requires attention to detail strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast- paced environment. The Data Entry/Receiving Clerk works closely with the warehouse and logistics teams to ensure the timely and accurate processing of incoming goods.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and Inspect Shipments: Receive incoming shipments of goods packages and materials. Inspect the items for damage accuracy and conformity to order specifications.
- Data Entry: Enter relevant information from received shipments into the companys database or inventory management system. This includes product codes quantities descriptions and any additional data required.
- Inventory Verification: Compare received items against packing lists invoices and purchase orders to ensure accuracy. Identify discrepancies and notify appropriate parties for resolution.
- Labeling and Tagging: Attach appropriate labels tags or barcodes to received items for proper identification and tracking within the warehouse.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of received shipments including relevant documents such as bills of lading packing lists and invoices.
- Communication: Collaborate with warehouse and procurement teams to address any issues or discrepancies related to received shipments. Communicate effectively to resolve problems promptly.
- Organization: Organize and prioritize received items for proper storage or distribution within the warehouse. Ensure that products are stored safely and logically to facilitate efficient retrieval.
- Data Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy of data entered into the database including item descriptions quantities and other relevant information. Cross-reference information to minimize errors.
- Quality Control: Participate in quality control processes by inspecting products for defects or damages and following established protocols for handling and documenting any issues.
- Maintain Clean Workspace: Keep the receiving area clean and organized ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
- Adherence to Procedures: Follow established procedures guidelines and protocols for receiving data entry and inventory management.
- Reporting: Generate and provide regular reports to supervisors or management regarding received shipments data entry accuracy and any recurring issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in data entry and computer skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational skills.
Effective communication skills. - Basic knowledge of inventory management systems is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes physically demanding environment.
- Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
