Job Summary

Scope of position:

Reporting to the VP of operations the Director of Fiber Procurement will be responsible for the procurement of pulpwood wood chips and biomass for the integrated Twin Rivers Pulp Mill situated in Edmundston New Brunswick. The incumbent is responsible for providing efficient fibre and biomass for full operations at competitive rates.

Descriptions:

  • Negotiate fiber supply contracts with sawmills and suppliers in NB QC and Maine.
  • Manage critical long term wood chip and biomass supply contract with strategic suppliers.
  • Development and management of Twin Rivers fiber and biomass strategies to be reviewed regularly with mill managers and the senior corporate management team.
  • Ensure changes in supply/inventory levels at competitor mills are followed and shared within the procurement group and mill management.
  • Procurement of approximately 500000 BDT of spruce and fir woodchips.
  • Procurement of approximately 860000 GMT of biomass.
  • Procurement of approximately 15000 BDT of pulpwood.
  • Ensure fibre and biomass costs are competitive with Eastern Canadian mills.
  • Develop annual budgets and implement tracking mechanism for cost and volume control.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to senior management outlining performance key issues and improvement plans.
  • Be a visible leader who fosters a collaborative performance driver work environment.
  • Primary Twin River contact with N.B. Forest Products Association and Department of Natural Resources.
  • Work with Manager of Edmundston Operations to increase non-traditional fibre sourcing of biomass and chips (non s/f).
  • Continue to improve relationships with fibre suppliers such that Twin Rivers Paper gains a competitive advantage
  • Provide oversight on Twin Rivers Paper Crown Timber License
  • The incumbent is responsible for the planned and adequate wood supply for the Edmundston Mill representing a total expense for fibre of $12 million.
  • Suppliers of fibre to the Edmundston Mill are responsible to follow Twin Rivers and New Brunswick safety regulations.
  • The incumbent is to contribute to the ongoing improvement of Twin Rivers Paper Wood Supply Strategy.
  • Work hand in hand with operation personnel to optimize fuel and fiber unloading process.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic procurement roles.
  • Experience with pulp mill sourcing desired
  • Experience negotiating contracts with large and small suppliers
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders
