About The Team

Our Technical Services team provides expert support across multiple disciplines within the Colleges some functions within research areas. This multi-skilled team manages teaching laboratories for undergraduate and postgraduate programs and designs develops and constructs experiments.

By delivering specialised technical operational and project services the team plays a vital role in supporting academics and researchers to achieve excellence in education research and engagement. Whether for teaching research or external partnerships Technical Services ensures the Universitys technical needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Your New Role!

The Technical Team Leader manages technical financial operational and administrative aspect of practical teaching ensuring alignment with the Universitys strategic vision. Leading a multidisciplinary team this role delivers high-quality technical services for teaching and research across the Engineering and Energy School within the College.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager and collaborating with other Technical Team Leaders the Engineering and Energy (E&E) Technical Team Leader supports teaching and learning builds strong stakeholder relationships particularly within the School of Engineering and Energy and ensures compliance with regulations and standards. The role drives efficient technical operations while promoting the College and Universitys objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Lead and Manage: Drive team performance recruitment training and workforce planning and foster a positive culture and ensure compliance with safety and University policies
  • Deliver Technical and Operational Excellence: Oversee specialist technical services facilities and equipment and support teaching research and strategic projects while managing budgets and resources efficiently
  • Collaborate and Innovate: Build strong stakeholder relationships manage suppliers and promote continuous improvement and ensure sustainability safety and alignment with the Universitys vision.

This Continuous Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $99697.00 $130908.00 (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What youll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy (or equivalent) with at least 4 years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training may be considered
  • Proven ability to coordinate complex operations in large organisations with strong knowledge of engineering/energy instrumentation and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams fostering engagement and building positive workplace culture alongside excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Sound understanding of relevant laws regulations and Work Health and Safety requirements with commitment to risk management and compliance
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills commitment to University values (authenticity integrity respect inclusivity) and alignment with strategic themes of sustainability equity diversity and inclusion
