Job Description

An excellent opportunity is available for a Bioservices Operations Officer to join the Bioservices Department at Australias pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the Position

The Bioservices Operations Officer is responsible for a range of operational tasks across the Bioservices department. This role is primarily responsible for the processing and issuing of orders placed by internal and external clients through our online mouse ordering system (MOS) and the institutes Animal Management System (AMS) ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all transactions. A significant focus of this position is on administrative tasks including the generation management and analysis of detailed reports to support animal breeding programs and the preparation of monthly accounts.

The Bioservices Operations Officer is expected to regularly collect review and interpret data from MOS and AMS providing insights and recommendations to improve operational effectiveness. Additionally the role involves sourcing verifying and ordering supplies necessary for the animal facilities maintaining thorough documentation and inventory records. The position requires close collaboration with a variety of staff to uphold high standards in order processing and administrative reporting. Encouraging a team environment modeling professional behavior and potentially overseeing indirect supervisory responsibilities are also essential components of this role.

This role will be involved in the support of institute operational processes including risk management safety and regulatory compliance.

Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration

  • Proficient in computer literacy document control and Microsoft Office (Word Excel).

  • Demonstrated experience in an administrative capacity.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication.

  • Skilled at workload organisation and prioritisation.

  • Professional telephone manner.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Animal management systems knowledge preferred but not essential.

Personal Qualities:

  • Self-motivated able to work independently on multiple projects.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff and external partners at all levels.

  • Quick to adapt to changing environments and priorities.

  • Conscientious reliable and aligned with Institute values and culture.

Terms of Appointment
This position is an ongoing role in a full time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 5 ($82018-$94209). Very attractive salary packaging options are available for general living expenses meal entertainment novated leasing and more. 12% superannuation payable plus up to a further 5% after the first 6 months of service via our matching superannuation scheme.
