Duties & ResponsibilitiesStrategic Development:
- Develop and execute commercial strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
- Lead sectoral planning analysis and proactive engagement with operational leads.
- Collaborate with Operations GMs on growth strategy and development of innovative customer-centric solutions and manage/oversee their
implementation. - Support and ensure commercial viability ofthe 5-year growth strategy and sectoral plans.
- Ensure adherence to commercial guardrails including Internal Rate of Return (IRR).
- Design standardise update and maintain costing models to ensure profitability.
- Assist in negotiations and finalisation of commercial contracts ensuring compliance with internal standards.
- Monitor market trends competitor activities and customer insights to inform decisionmaking.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews (PIRs) to evaluate strategic outcomes.
Account Management & Client Retention:
- Support contract renewals renegotiations and margin protection efforts.
- Ensure deep operational engagement in order to understand the client needs and their business drivers.
- Align service offerings with client and operational expectations to ensure high satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
Costing & Pricing Management:
- Develop standardise and maintain comprehensive cost models for new and existing
opportunities. - Collaborate with operations and finance teams to establish competitive profitable pricing structures.
- Track cost trends and recommend actions to enhance margins and improve cost efficiency.
Tender & Proposal Management:
- Manage the end-to-end tender and proposal process from opportunity assessment to bid submission.
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs to deliver accurate competitive and compliant proposals.
- Support contract negotiations legal reviews documentation and proper archiving of signed contracts.
People Leadership:
- Lead mentor and develop a high-performing business development team.
- Set clear performance objectives conduct reviews and manage recruitment and onboarding.
- Foster collaboration knowledge sharing and continuous development in sales negotiation and client management.
- Build a high-performance accountable and innovative team culture.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize productivity and commercial impact.
Reporting & Strategic Insights:
- Maintain accurate performance reports and dashboards against commercial targets.
- Ensure proper registration compliance and storage of all contractual documents.
- Provide market intelligence and strategic insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate across business units and the business development team to align commercial activities with company strategy.
- Communicate commercial performancepportunities and challenges to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelors degree in business administration Commerce Finance Logistics Industrial Engineering or a related field
- Professional certifications in Commercial Contract or Project Management (e.g. CIPS CMC PMP) are advantageous.
- 710 years of progressive experience in commercial management ideally in logistics supply chain or related industries.
- Proven track record in managing commercial teams and delivering profitable growth.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with expertise in contract negotiation and pricing
strategy. - Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret market and financial data.
- Excellent communication negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
