Through the Justice Alliance Metro (JAM) program HOPE works in close partnership with the Department of Justice to support young people involved in the youth justice system to build skills resilience and positive futures. About the Role

We are seeking a Youth Mentor to work alongside Youth Justice Services (YJS) in Armadale. This is an independent co-located role within the Youth Justice office focused on building trusted relationships and supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes in life skills health development and bail compliance where required.

You will mentor a small caseload of young people advocate for their needs and work closely with Youth Justice Officers and community partners to support meaningful change.

What Youll Do

  • Build strong trust-based relationships with young people
  • Mentor up to 8 young people to achieve goals in their Youth Justice case plans
  • Support life skills wellbeing and positive decision-making
  • Advocate for young people and connect them with services
  • Work collaboratively with Youth Justice and local stakeholders
  • Provide outcome-focused reporting using trauma-informed practice

What Youll Bring

Essential:

  • Cert IV / Diploma (or studying) in Youth Work Community Services Mental Health or AOD OR 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience or strong willingness to work with at-risk young people with complex needs
  • Trauma-informed strengths-based youth-centred approach
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Drivers licence Working with Children Check Police Certificate DoJ clearance & First Aid

Desirable:

  • Experience working with young people in the justice system
  • Knowledge of FASD and therapeutic crisis intervention
