Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Engineer to join our team responsible for managing and supporting our Instant Payment Application. The ideal candidate will ensure the stability reliability and performance of payment systems while providing expert support for incidents and problem resolution. This role is critical in maintaining seamless payment operations and delivering exceptional service to our customers.

What we are working on

At this moment we are building the platform for Instant Payments and Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) Credit Transfer and Direct Debit payments for all European ING entities. This includes new connectivity to many account management systems and clearing houses. Think of real-time and batch processing of high-volume asynchronous stateless communication explicitly modelled payment life-cycles using Finite State Machines (FSM) resilience patterns idempotent application design retriggering and recovery of failed payments event-driven processing and much more.

The Team

You will work in the dynamic and challenging environment of Payments Settlement Services (PSS) SEPA in Tribe Payments. We operate according to a Scrum development process with two-week sprints and strongly believe in the DevOps approach to delivering IT solutions. We strive to have high-quality mission-critical software delivered on time using iterative development with regular milestone reviews with stakeholders following INGs agile way of working to reduce surprises in what we build.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Design/develop/ and maintain reusable Azure Pipelines templates and CI/CD automation in Azure DevOps .

  • Pipeline as a code with YAML;

  • Build and improve monitoring/alerting and observability across services and automate tasks throughout the platform lifecycle eg: Prometheus ELK stack;

  • Collaborate with development teams to understand needs/provide enablement and drive adoption of best practices;

  • Improve system reliability/delivery speed and reduce time to market through scalable platform solution;

  • Contribute to platform architecture documentation and internal tooling;

  • Supporting internal customers and troubleshooting critical production issues across platforms and applications as required;

  • Carry out production deployments identifying and patching bugs and reducing inefficiencies;

  • Automate change management framework;

  • Working with various technologies including but not limited to Ansible RHEL Kibana ElasticSearch Cassandra database Azure DevOps tools Git Hub Grafana Prometheus;

  • Provide evidences to cover the required risk controls.

  • Relevant experience in an Ops/DevOps/TechOps/SRE role;

  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred;

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken);

  • Experience with AzureDevOps or any CI/CD tools;

  • Experience working in LINUX environments (sysadmin patching debugging);

  • Interacting with monitoring Tooling like Prometheus and Grafana;

  • Knowledge on containerisation (Docker Kubernetes);

  • Experience with Oracle Database is nice to have;

  • A desire to learn new technologies and evolve with an ever-changing industry;

  • Accurate in managing the IT related Compliancy and Risk controls is nice to have;

  • Accurate in documenting and following procedures;

  • Able to provide 24x7 coverage (weekends and evenings) for standby duty on a rotational basis with other team members (maximum one week per month).
