Cardiac Sonographer I, Pediatric Heart Station, Full-Time

JoinUniversity of Chicago Medicineas aCardiac Sonographer Iin the Pediatric Heart Stationat our Comer Childrens Hospital.

In this role aCardiac Sonographer I prepares patients for Transthoracic Echo and Stress Echo procedures reviewing indications comparing previous studies to accurately answer all questions by referring physician. Performs all aspects of echocardiographic imaging under the direct supervision of a Cardiac Sonographer II or III and under the general supervision of the Medical Director of the Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging Laboratory.

Essential Job Functions:

• Preparing patients for Transthoracic echo reviewing indications comparing previous studies to accurately answer all questions by referring physician and communicates with patients customers and staff in a respectful and compassionate manner.
• Utilizes ISCV data archiving system and Electronic Medical Records system to record charge and report procedures.
• Actively participates in process improvement activities.
• Involved in research and publications to be at the cutting edge of the field.
• Performs other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• BLS certification through The American Heart Association and Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and pass the registry within one year of hire.
• From 1 to 5 years experience required in ultrasound procedures equipment CW Doppler and related anatomy and pathological conditions of the heart valves pericardium and blood vessels.
• Independently perform a complete transthoracic examination with appropriate use of contrast when necessary.
• Perform quantitative echocardiographic measurements for reporting.
• Demonstrates responsibility for checking orders and obtaining orders for testing.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
