Job Summary

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Abilities:

Inventory methods and practices.

2. Ability To:
Manage and coordinate the day-to-day school nutrition operation at an
assigned school site.
Assure compliance with District State and federal requirements.
Plan well-balanced nutritional and appetizing menus within a
fixed budget.
Train others in the preparation and serving of food in large
quantities.
Read interpret apply and explain rules regulations policies
and procedures.
Schedule supervise and evaluate staff.
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of
action.
Meet schedules and time lines.
Operate a computer terminal as required.
Plan and organize work.
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Work independently with little direction.

3. Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma high school
certificate of completion G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress
toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law and three
years experience in school nutrition operations.

4. Licenses and Other Requirements:
Must complete training course for certification of beginning
school nutrition personnel as prescribed in 702 KAR 6:045.

Must obtain SNA certification.

5. Meet the health requirements of the State and the Henry County
Board of Education.

6. Be compliant with all HACCP regulations (see district HACCP plan).

7. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may
find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Director of School Nutrition

SUPERVISES: School Nutrition Assistants
Cafeteria cashiers

BASIC FUNCTION: Manage and coordinate the day-to-day school nutrition operations of an assigned school site; assure compliance with District State and federal requirements and laws regarding nutrition sanitation safety and record-keeping; select assign schedule supervise direct and evaluate assigned school nutrition personnel.

REPRESENTATIVE PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manages coordinates and oversees the day-to-day school nutrition operations at an assigned school site; analyzes effectiveness assures compliance with District State and federal laws regulations and safety and sanitation procedures.

2. Prepares menus assuring compliance with regulations and requirements; estimates and orders amount of food and supplies need; monitors and controls expenditures; maintains assigned budget.

3. Selects school nutrition employees; directs assigns schedules and evaluates school nutrition personnel; conducts training sessions for new employees.

4. Inspects lunchroom and kitchen area daily to assure compliance with health safety and sanitation requirements and regulations.

5. Plans work schedules and coordinates daily work for efficient use of labor; receives calls from employees and calls substitutes as necessary.

6. Trains and assists employees in the proper handling of foods correct use and care of equipment and in maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety.

7. Maintains prepares and reviews a variety of menu production records inventories logs and reports; accumulates data and inputs information into a computer as appropriate and files documents as necessary.

8. Supervises and participates in food preparation and distribution to District students and staff; plans for catered events such as meetings activities and parties; plans and coordinates school nutrition operations with school activities to improve school and community relations and increase student participation.

9. Communicates with students staff faculty and outside organizations to exchange information receives suggestions and resolves issues related to school nutrition.

10. Participates in schedules and attends in-service meetings and workshops.

11. Responsibilities Specific to HCPS Assignment:
A. Assumes responsibility for the security of revenue from cafeteria
services until it has been turned over to proper authorities.
B. Serves as second confirmation of cash and count as recorded on
daily deposit slips and daily cash reconciliation sheets.
C. Evaluates the performance of all cafeteria employees using the
Incident Report form as needed; completes personnel evaluation
forms for school nutrition assistants and cashier.
D. Maintains the following records required by the Department of
Agriculture: Perpetual Inventory and Quarterly Food Inventories.
E. Notifies the School Nutrition Operations Coordinator when repairs
or replacement are needed.
F. Attends monthly meetings for School Nutrition Managers and aids in
menu planning.
G. Verifies receipt of food and supplies; notes inaccuracies on
invoices; signs all invoices.
H. Attendance recommended at OVEC Workshop.
I. Maintains required SNA certification continuing education hours.
J. Required to wear tops provided by the program and either white
blue black or khaki slacks walking shorts or skirts. Hair
restraints must be worn at all times.
K. Maintains an accurate time sheet; submits all timesheets for
employees at location to the Director of School Nutrition twice
monthly.
L. Becomes familiar with and develops practices that will result in
successful completion of school nutrition program goals as defined
by the School Nutrition Comprehensive Study Committee and approved
by the Board of Education.

12. Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Director of School Nutrition or the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent and the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
