FMCSD is seeking a temporary dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Social Worker to support our Integrated School Support Program (ISSP). This role focuses on providing targeted wraparound support for vulnerable students from Early Entry Programs (EEP) through Grade 6. Term is effective February 10 2026 - June 25 2026 (with a possibility of extension depending on grant allocation).
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in improving the physical mental emotional social and academic well-being of our students. By fostering a network of comprehensive services you will help ensure our students have the necessary foundation to succeed both within the classroom and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities
- Targeted Programming: Deliver wraparound supports and evidence-based interventions for students in need of specialized social-emotional guidance.
- Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Implement SEL frameworks to help students manage emotions achieve positive goals demonstrate empathy and maintain healthy relationships.
- Holistic Health Integration: Support the delivery of evidence-based physical education and nutrition programming foundational to student health.
- Collaborative Practice: Work in close partnership with the Director of Inclusive Education school stakeholders and cross-sector community agencies including the RCMP.
- Case Management: Act as a central point of contact within the ISSP network to ensure students access a cohesive system of professional services.
Qualifications & Competencies - A Bachelors Degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Proven experience working with elementary-aged children (EEP to Grade 6).
- Strong understanding of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and mental health frameworks.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and build strong relationships with external community partners.
