Nestled in the heart of Onsted Michigan Ahimsa Safe Haven is a compassionate sanctuary that provides a safe nurturing environment for over 120 rescued animals. Each resident carries a unique tale of resilience and hope and we are committed to ensuring their ongoing care and well-being. We are currently seeking dedicated Animal Caretakers to join our team focusing on the care of our cat pig and bird residents.

Responsibilities

As an Animal Caretaker your key duties will include:

• Daily feeding of cats pigs and birds ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
• Providing fresh water to all animal residents throughout the day.
• Regular cleaning and maintenance of pig pens and bird coops/runs ensuring a clean and healthy living environment.
• Feed cats and provide them with fresh water
• Change cat litter
• Clean 2 buildings that house the cats daily (Sanitizing bowls sweeping mopping spot cleaning as needed etc.)
• Monitor cats health and safety
• Provide socialization to cats when needed
• Observing animal behavior and health and reporting any concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Assisting with enrichment activities for the cats pigs and birds.
• Participating in training and educational opportunities to enhance animal care skills.
• Lift bags of food for the animals that can exceed 50 lbs.

Schedule

• Weekdays Weekends and Holidays
• Mornings Afternoons and Evenings
• Part-time (29 hours or less)

Both morning and afternoon shifts are available.

Pay Rate

$15/hour

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualities:

• A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
• Experience working with cats pigs birds or other kinds of animals.
• A basic understanding of animal behavior and nutrition.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to perform the necessary tasks.
• Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.
