Job Title: Home-School facilitator/tutor required for a 12-year-old male with ADHD in Durban KZN. The child in question is a sweet inquisitive boy enjoys having fun socialising with others and engaging in his favourite interests. We are seeking somebody to assist him with following a home-schooling programme using an online curriculum. To oversee his learning and assist with planning organisation and task management.
Main Purpose of the job: In this role you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on this childs development and learning. Your responsibilities will include assisting him with understanding learning tasks completing them appropriately and supporting his individual learning and regulation needs. As well as building a relationship based on acceptance and trust. Collaboration with the online schooling platform is necessary as well as the implementation of individualized strategies for him that are supportive of his own individual learning needs. A suitable candidate would be interested in growing their understanding of his neurodevelopmental profile and related differences and challenges. A special interest and passion in supporting neurodivergent individuals is of utmost importance.
Job Objectives:
To collaborate with a team to support the childs needs.
Encourage and facilitate learning and development
To facilitate social engagements with peers when needed.
To understand accommodate and alleviate his ADHD related sensory & attention difficulties.
Redirect his attention to tasks and minimise distractions whilst still creating a fun and collaborative learning environment.
Requirements
- Experience working with children and adolescents particularly those that are neurodivergent.
- Experience in neurodivergence (particularly ADHD) is advantageous
- Punctuality
- A gentle and kind approach to working with children whilst remaining firm in boundaries is essential.
- Knowledge of childhood & adolescent development would be advantageous
- Teaching experience and a teaching degree or diploma is an advantage.
- Availability weekdays from 09h00 to 11h00 (to be confirmed).
- Ability to commit to the role long term.

There will be an opportunity to be trained by the NDC Facilitation Academy when the role commences and support sessions are provided for one month thereafter working in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team based at the Neurodiversity Centre.
