Founded in 1999 eTEC Mechanical is a full-service mechanical contractor providing engineering installation and maintenance for HVAC plumbing piping and fire protection systems. We provide diverse mechanical services to meet our customers needs ranging from engineering and installing heating and cooling systems to maintaining and troubleshooting commercial/industrial HVAC and fire protection systems. eTECs mission is to provide commercial and industrial HVAC plumbing piping and fire protection systems for customers who need a single source mechanical contractor. We are the only mechanical service provider in central Virginia able to efficiently provide professional in-house engineering installation and maintenance for HVAC plumbing and fire protection systems to the commercial and industrial market.

Job Title:

Pipe Fitter/Welder

Job Summary:

Layout fabrication installation maintenance and repair of piping systems structural steel pumps and equipment in the commercial and industrial environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Select equipment and plan layout assembly and welding applying knowledge of physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage and weld techniques.
  • Lay out position align and fit components together.
  • Bolt clamp and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Repair products by dismantling straightening reshaping and reassembling parts using cutting torch straightening press and hand tools.
  • Detect recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • At least 5 years of practical welding is required.
  • Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade and general construction environment.
  • Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used.
  • Certification at one or more levels is required.
  • Physical activities include standing balancing climbing stairs and ladders walking and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. are required.
