JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly experienced Finance Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Accounts and Finance Department within a healthcare environment. The role is responsible for financial planning reporting regulatory compliance revenue optimization and providing sound financial insights to support executive decision-making in a complex hospital setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan develop and implement robust financial policies procedures and internal controls for the Accounts and Finance Department.
- Develop implement and monitor financial policies and procedures in compliance with healthcare regulations statutory requirements and best practices.
- Prepare review and maintain accurate financial reports including budgets forecasts cash flow statements management accounts and variance analyses.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with clinical and non-clinical department heads providing guidance on cost control and budget performance.
- Analyze hospital revenue cycles billing systems payer mix and financial performance metrics to identify gaps risks and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure timely accurate billing collections reconciliations and revenue assurance across all hospital units.
- Monitor expenditure control costs and drive financial efficiency without compromising service quality.
- Supervise mentor and develop finance team members promoting accountability professionalism and continuous improvement.
- Oversee payroll statutory deductions tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Manage relationships with external auditors regulators banks insurance partners and other financial stakeholders.
- Lead audit processes and ensure prompt resolution of audit findings and compliance issues.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to the Managing Director and senior leadership to support operational capital and investment decisions.
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations and manage subordinate staff performance against agreed KPIs.
- Support management with financial input for expansion projects procurement decisions and contract negotiations.
- Participate in institutional academic compliance and professional learning activities within scope of practice.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience as a Finance Manager or in a senior finance role within a large hospital or healthcare institution.
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Health Administration or a related discipline.
- Masters degree in a relevant field is required.
- Mandatory membership of a recognized professional body such as ICAN or ANAN.
- CPA or CFA certification is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of healthcare financial regulations hospital operations revenue cycles and industry dynamics.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and strong financial control systems.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including reporting to senior management and external stakeholders.
- High level of computer proficiency including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and hospital financial or ERP systems.
