Job Summary

Position Information


The Department of Design & ConstructionCivil Division is looking for a senior licensed Structural Engineer. This position is located in Honolulu and is responsible for the professional engineering and administrative work in the inspection planning and design of bridges highway and drainage structures rockfall mitigations earth movement and other structural projects.

What You Will Do
  • Provide overall direction and monitoring of the CIP Projects for the Structural Support Section.
  • Oversee the development of the CIP program for the Structural Support Section.
  • Coordinate and participate in the consultant selection process and contract negotiations.
  • Supervise and coordinate the development of the justification and supporting cost documentation for projects utilizing Federal funds.
  • Oversee the construction support for the implementation of the project improvements.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelors degree in an engineering specialty.

Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.

Education Verification: Education information must be listed clearly on your application. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three (3) years of registered professional (post-bachelors degree) structural engineering experience included or supplemented by one (1) year insupervising or having responsibility for an engineering operation or function.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
1. Possession of a valid license as a professional structural engineer in the State of Hawaii.

Applicants with a current out-of-state professional structural engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
