The New York City Comptrollers Office works to promote the financial health integrity and effectiveness of New York City government in order to strengthen trust secure a thriving future for all New Yorkers and build a more just equitable and resilient city. The Bureau of Engineering (BOE) investigates construction and construction related disputes and claims for and against the City of New York and in collaboration with the Office of the General Counsel adjudicates and negotiates fair and reasonable outcomes that are in the best interest of the City. BOE also provides technical expertise and assistance to the Office of the Comptroller in support of its oversight of City Agencies.
The Staff Engineer will be responsible for the support of the investigation and analysis of construction contract claims and disputes and other engineering work assigned to them.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide engineering and technical support for the investigation and analysis of construction contract claims and disputes of various complexity.
- Collects and completes a thorough review and evaluation of data relevant to the assigned claim or engineering task.
- Under direction prepare comprehensive reports that address damages and liabilities and provide recommendations for supervisors consideration.
- Lead the research and evaluation of contract and engineering matters of a low to medium complexity.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
ASSISTANT CIVIL ENGINEER - 20210
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Masters degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.
