DescriptionThe Facility Supervisor directs all aspects of facility operations for the largest recreation facility. This includes managing and leading a strong operational service-oriented team develop and manage budgets recreation service delivering of terms available within the facility to maintaining the building and its specialized equipment to ensure continuous operation for guests and staff. Codes and standards set by health safety and the recreation field need to be adhered to. Facility supervisors are integral to ensuring the multi facets of services available are sustainable in the services delivering of healthy lifestyle choices for the residents of Strathcona County.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop/manage a large & diverse operational staff team through recruitment mentoring training and guidance.
- Provide direction & development of Assistant Supervisors & staff through positive two-way communication individual learning plans and formal training sessions.
- Develop training programs for the technical aspect of the position: guest services County core values the RPG foundation for service and operational excellence.
- Establish facility processes that encompass the development and review of structured and unstructured products and services. Awareness of trends market shifts and innovative opportunities.
- Review and monitor event/rental licence agreements and service contracts established in the facility as part of the overall service delivery to community groups residents and guests.
- Develop in coordination with department marketing initiatives implement monitor and revise the facility marketing plan for the multitude of structured and unstructured products/services offered.
- Develop monitor and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the recreation facility ensuring alignment with municipal financial policies service standards and strategic priorities.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure efficient use of resources working within approved budgets and advising on potential overages and adherence to procurement policies. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement operational efficiencies.
- Provide updates for regular financial reviews including variance explanations utilization trends and key performance indicators. Present findings to senior leadership and contribute to Council reports as required.
- Oversee financial components of vendor agreements service contracts and maintenance contracts. Ensure accurate invoicing timely payments and adherence to service levels.
- Review and evaluate current operating procedures and personnel practices and establishes procedures practices and priorities for the most effective facility operation.
- Review and identify gaps in facility safety and security including both the physical safety of the building as well as the safety and wellbeing of staff. Understanding regional trends and proactive strategies to implement best practices in safety when dealing with the public and risk mitigation.
Qualificationsand Skills:
- University Degree in Recreation Administration Business or related discipline; or a related field with 5-7 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferably in a large multi-functional recreation facility setting.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Alberta Recreation Facility Personnel Arena and Pool Operators I & II and Certificate in Municipal Management and Leadership would be an asset
- Excellent interpersonal supervision and leadership skills combined with judgement discretion and a strong work ethic
- Effective presentation written and verbal communication skills
- Strong strategic thinking analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective time management and decision-making ability
- Will be expected to lift carry equipment and may have to work odd or long hours at a time to complete special requests or projects or to participate in or coordinate evening and off-hour meetings and attend building emergencies.
