General Description

Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is the official destination marketing organization for the city and promotes travel to Atlanta. ACVB positions Atlanta as the leading destination for conventions and tourism through sales and marketing programs.

ACVBs public relations team works with journalists to generate positive stories highlighting Atlanta as a premier convention and leisure travel destination. ACVBs public relations team is seeking an intern for the summer to assist in marketing Atlanta to domestic and international travel media as well as convention trade outlets.

ACVBs summer internship offers a dynamic hands-on experience designed to meaningfully build your professional skill set. This isnt your typical internship theres no fetching coffee or making lunch runs though we do enjoy discovering new coffee spots and restaurants.

From planning press trips to assisting with media requests the summer intern will play an integral role on the public relations team as Atlanta hosts FIFA World Cup 2026. Additionally the intern will have the opportunity to engage with ACVBs senior leadership collaborate across departmentsand explore the destination to deepen their understanding of Atlantas travel and tourism industry.

What will the responsibilities be

  • Assist with media monitoring tracking and reporting in Muck Rack
    • Finalize a World Cup media coverage recap report
  • Write press releases and other media materials using AP style guidelines
  • Assist with media tours and events
  • Assist with internal communications to keep ACVB staff informed on industry trends and relevant news coverage
  • Respond to media requests under guidance and supervision
  • Research current trends in the hospitality industry to ensure press materials and media pitches remain fresh and accurate
  • Attend and network at industry events and business openings

Who is the ideal candidate

  • Undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing a degree in public relations journalism mass communications or a related discipline
  • Candidates who have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates who have proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Candidates who are self-starters and team players
  • Candidates with strong organizational communication and time management skills

What additional information is important to consider

  • Work Hours and Duration of Internship: 12 weeks (20 hours/week) during normal business hours
  • Work Location: This is an on-site position located in the Atlanta office. Remote internships are not offered.
  • Work Environment: Standard temperature-controlled office environment with moderate office noise level
  • Physical Requirements: Light lifting up to 5 lbs. Note: the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Travel: 0-5%
  • Academic credit: The intern is responsible for arranging academic credit with their school if desired.
