The Governance Legal & Events Team is responsible for the governance of the global organisation at Transparency International (TI-S) and it facilitates the development of and helps ensure a strong integer and relevant TI Movement that fulfils its mission efficiently and in full abidance with the values that it promotes also in respect of the diversity and high independence of its constituents. The Legal Associate will be part of the Legal Affairs Unit which provides internal legal advice to many different stakeholders.
Role Purpose: The Legal Associate contributes to the daily work of the Governance Legal & Event Team providing legal support required across the organization to ensure full legal and administrative compliance with the requirements of German law.

Band: Salary according to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF1 a salary starting EUR 35175.00 gross per year depending on relevant experience.

Working Hours: part-time 75%; 30 hours per week

Based in the Governance Legal & Event Team and reporting to the Head of Governance Legal & Event the Legal Associate will:
- Contribute to the daily work of the Governance Legal & Event Team providing legal support required across the organization to ensure full legal and administrative compliance with the requirements of German and international law
- Support the coordination of work and information flow between thelegal function and other internal teams ensuring process integrity
- Assist in the gathering of information and preparation of documents and other work outputs of the legal function
- Support the draft review and negotiate of contracts and agreements to safeguard the organizations interests and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies
- Proactively support day-to-day legal operations ensuring consistency with TI-S processes and procedures
- Ensure legal processes are up to date and meet the needs of the team and organisation and suggest improvements where necessary
- Undertakein-depth legal research on diverse legal topics to ensure that requested information and data is available to relevant stakeholders
- Contribute to team-related projects and provide input into the development and implementation of legal policies guidelines and procedures in line with best practice. A data protection focus is an advantage
- Contribute to legal training activities to raise effective use of legal capacity and capability across TI-S and the TI Movement andassist in the organization and running of other internal and/or external meetings and events
- Support in managing the work of pro bono lawyers
- Support information management for the legal function including maintaining up to date organized and accurate filing systems
- Respond to requests for information by conducting targeted research and providing comprehensive responses or escalating where needed
- Contribute to the overall functioning of theGovernance Legal & Events Team by providing proactive and ad hoc support where necessary
In order to succeed in this role candidates will need to meet the following:
- University degree in law or professional qualification in law following the German legal curriculum
- Minimum of2 years of relevant experience in a legal environment preferably within a law firm and/or an in-house legal function
- Expertise in current German law (incl. labour law and contract law)
- Ability to undertake legal research with a high attention to detail and keen awareness of the need for legal accuracy
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to effectively manage priorities and deliver to tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of the organizationdemonstrating client and service orientation
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently with limited supervision
- Professional languageproficiency in English (working language of the organisation) essential; additional languages in particular German French Spanish and/or Arabic an asset
- Ability to deal with confidential information
- Good knowledge of MS Office and various internal communication tools
- Intercultural awarenessdiplomacy and political sensitivity
- Interest in anti-corruption work and commitment to the values and principles of Transparency International
