Job Summary
EL Instructional Assistant (English Language Learner)Position SummaryThe EL Instructional Assistant plays a critical role in supporting students whose primary language is not English. You will work under the guidance of a certified EL Teacher to provide instructional social and linguistic support helping students bridge the gap between their native language and English while mastering core academic ResponsibilitiesProvide small-group or one-on-one tutoring to students in core subjects (Math Science Social Studies and ELA) using modified strategies to make content students to general education classrooms to push-in support ensuring they can follow teacher directions and participate in assignments and assessments under the direction of the lead teacher to match the students English proficiency organizational and study skillsHelp maintain an inclusive classroom environment that honors the students home culture and in administering language proficiency exams (e.g. WIDA).Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavioral observations to assist the ELL Teacher in Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan : High School Diploma required; Associate degree or 60 college credits preferred Linguistic Skills: Proficiency in English and at least one other language (e.g. Spanish Russian Ukrainian) is highly preferredExperience: Prior experience working with school-aged children particularly in an educational or multi-cultural settingSoft Skills: High level of patience cultural empathy and the ability to adapt to changing student needs. Works effectively as a member of a team; receives and utilizes feedback range: $17.97-$28.75 dependent upon education experience and placement
