Do you have Track & Field experience and want to introduce kids to the sport This is the perfect job for you! Were looking for a Youth Track & Field Coach/ Supervisor to coach our rec track & field club. You will be in charge of structuring and leading practices for our participants (7-14 years old) directing the youth track aides and attending all practices and meets. Weekly hours will vary between 3 to 7 hours per week. The track season will run from April 20th - the beginning of June (see the schedule below for dates and times).
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Working under direct supervision of the Recreation Program Coordinator
- Attending all scheduled practices meets and arrive 30 minutes prior to practices and meets
- Training and preparing youth participants (7-14 years old) in track and field events
- Ability to work well with youth and adults
- Overseeing staff assigned by league coordinator i.e. Youth Track Aides
- Supervising Track team report team information to coordinator
- Assisting coordinators with training of youth aides
- Assisting with meetings and any necessary league preparation
- Assisting with all other related duties as assigned
- Evening and Saturday hours
- Setup/take down and clean-up of facilities after each practice or meet
- Performs and assists with all other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to organize and lead practices
- Skills in communicating effectively with participants parents and other staff
- Ability to be enthusiastic patient and motivated to work with children 7-14 years old
- Ability to teach basic track & field knowledge and rules
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Youth Track Aides must have general knowledge of Track & Field skills and rules
- Prior Track experience preferred but not required
CONDITIONS
- Moderate physical activity. Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds
- Position requires outdoor work with some exposure to adverse weather conditions walking standing lifting and other physical activity.
- Work Saturdays
SCHEDULE
- Practices are 5:30 - 6:30 pm at PGJH on the following days: 4/20 4/22 4/27 4/29 5/6 5/13 5/20 5/27 6/3
- Meets will be every Saturday starting May 2nd until June 6th
