The open position involves work related to all product lines sold serviced and manufactured in Canada automobile motorcycle / ATV / SxS power equipment general-purpose engines and marine.
Technical Support provide support for dealer systems / applications managed by Honda Canada which are used primarily in the dealer workshop operations: vehicle diagnostics testing and repair as well as data collection. The support is provided in collaboration with Honda Canadas Information Technology (IT) division and with external suppliers and generally involves interaction with other technical service and sales teams within Honda Canada.
Project work participate in global and/or local projects primarily related to diagnostics control or data collection communication interfaces with vehicles and/or workshop equipment at Canadian dealers or manufacturers. The scope of project work is diverse and may involve any of the following activities:
establishing business technical requirements as part of a global team working with global automotive interface applications
project management to develop and/or deploy Canadian dealer specific system changes
developing reports to proactively monitor dealer systems
overseeing field trials and piloting of new tools/equipment being considered for authorized use / deployment to dealers
design prototype and testing of tools for unique dealer repair processes such as safety recalls
Testing / Validation test and evaluate software hardware and/or equipment as proof-of-concept or review prior to release
Reporting / presentation / reflection as part of PDCA (plan do check act) approach to manage activity and objectives
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
System Support and Development Vehicle and Dealer workshop Equipment Communications
Software / Hardware / Application support evaluation and development
Systems / equipment project work Requirements development business case justification documentation project management
Special tool design of medium complexity using CAD software combined with building prototype samples through 3D printing
Communication with Vendors/Suppliers for equipment requirements evaluation problem root cause analysis solution development and product and/or service implementation
Compile and manage information related to equipment for new models to ensure availability of equipment and coordinate communication to other
departments and dealers
Data query analysis and reporting as necessary with a Quality mindset / approach
POSITION PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Training and/or experience in automotive and/or motorcycle / power equipment engineering / repair and diagnostics along with training and/or experience in IT is the ideal combination for this position. Alternately those with experience in one area and a demonstrated willingness to learn and develop in the other will be considered. As such a combination of the following qualifications (through formal training or equivalent experience) are desired for this position:
University degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Industrial / Automotive) or College diploma
3 -5 years automotive related work experience
Familiarity with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standards - operational understating of SAE J2534 J1708 and J1739 standards an asset
Hands on auto workshop experience particularly with test equipment and diagnostic equipment
Experience in IT network / system troubleshooting
IT Business requirements preparation / project management an asset
WiFi network configuration experience
Database queries / business analytics using data to make decisions
Familiarity with Microsoft suite of applications (Access PowerPoint Excel Word) and CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent
Project Management training and/or certification an asset
Good problem solving / analytical thinking
Good Interpersonal and negotiation skills
Bilingual English/French preferable but not required

HIRING PRACTICES
The salary range for this position is $83139- $103924 CAD annually. Individual salaries within this range aredeterminedby a variety of job-related factors including education experience knowledge and skill set.
This is an on-site with occasional work-from-home position that requires employees to work on-site four days per week with the opportunity towork-from-home one day per week(with a dedicated workspace at the assigned company office).
