Description of Work
This position is located at Roanoke River Correctional Institution and is assigned to the maintenance section of a correctional facility. The primary purpose of this position is to perform preventive routine and corrective maintenance tasks and repairs ensuring that assigned systems equipment and facilities within a medium custody facility to include management of a minimum custody facility which is managed within the scope of the larger institution are maintained in a safe and efficient manner.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $39671- $69426
This position functions at the journeyman level in multiple skilled trades such as electrical plumbing mechanical heating and air or similar specializations. This position is responsible for the ongoing preventive maintenance and continuous repair of doors and locks windows and screens floor and wall tiles interior and exterior building repairs and may perform electrical repairs to lighting building wiring conduit security fencing and equipment. Work is performed independently; however positions may refer unusual work problems to their supervisor for consideration and final determination. This position will be expected to supervise the work of skilled semi-skilled and unskilled labor to include offender tabor to assist in completing assigned tasks. Work is evaluated on the basis of compliance with work orders and success in keeping equipment in proper working condition. Employees may perform other duties as required. Individuals may be required to work some weekends and holidays.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.EEO Statement
