We are seeking an entry-level NDE Technician to join our expert team. This position is for someone wanting to be part of a fast-paced and growing field providing specialized nondestructive examinations (NDE) to clients using various methods. This person will assist a group of highly specialized technicians responsible for using NDE and engineering assistance to assess the condition of critical Nuclear Power Plant components.
Primary Responsibilities: This role will be responsible for assisting experienced Level IIs conducting Ultrasonic (UT) exams both with robotic automated and manual exams which require moving and setting up equipment. Technicians will also receive specific training in ultrasonic principles and additional testing methods with the expectation to achieve Level II certifications as part of career growth.
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
Has a sense for mechanical concepts and spatial relationships
Capable of hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical issues
Has a solid understanding of the basic physical NDE principles and processes
Exhibits ethical behavior trustworthy respectful of peers
Team oriented professionally minded
Safety conscience and compliance with written procedures and quality practices.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency
This is an entry-level position but experience in phased array UT Automated UT (AUT) and Nuclear NDE is a plus. Ability to obtain unescorted access at nuclear facilities is also a plus.
Work Environment:
Willingness to accept extensive travel assignments; receptive to extended work hours/days/weeks
Willing to conduct assignments in an environment of less than favorable conditions including dirty or radiological environments and physically challenging conditions (heat cold or physical activities such as climbing or carrying equipment)
Demonstrate ability to maintain focus in hazardous industrial environments such as at heights on scaffolds and picks noisy locations with operating machinery nearby or overhead and with dangerous activities occurring nearby (welding grinding flame cutting overhead loads etc.)
Experience working in power plant environments is preferred.
