Job Summary

We are seeking to add a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Transportation Project Engineer to join our growing team.
As a Senior Transportation Project Engineer youll play a key role in delivering complex multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. Youll have the opportunity to oversee every phase from conceptual planning to final design and construction support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil and highway engineering familiarity with DOT standards and a passion for designing safe efficient and sustainable transportation addition to technical responsibilities this role includes mentoring and supporting junior engineering staff fostering a culture of learning and professional growth within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and steer the design of highway and roadway projects including geometric design grading drainage traffic control and pavement design
- Develop and review engineering plans specifications and technical reports
- Ensure compliance with applicable local state and federal transportation design standards (AASHTO FHWA ConnDOT/RIDOT/MassDOT guidelines)
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural traffic environmental and structural engineers
- Provide technical support during project development permitting bidding and construction phases
- Manage project schedules budgets and deliverables under the guidance of a project manager
- Track project milestones and assist in maintaining budgets and schedules
- Coordinate with clients agencies and stakeholders; represent BETA while attending project meetings and public presentations
- Assist with proposal development and business development initiatives as needed
- Mentor junior staff and support quality assurance/quality control efforts
Preferred location is BETAs Worcester MA office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Required Experience/Skills :
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related field
- 8 to 15 years of related engineering experience in highway design stormwater management ADA compliance and roadway construction practices
- Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with MUTCD AASHTO ConnDOT/RIDOT/MassDOT design standards
- Experience with MassDEP and CRMC permitting regulations
- Strong technical aptitude and an eagerness to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway sidewalk and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
- Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation
