Job Description

The Employee Experience Specialist Senior supports the Lurie Childrens Employee Value Proposition through management of activities and communications that inform and connect Lurie Childrens employees and support the organizations focus on creating an outstanding employee experience and becoming an employer of choice.

Reporting to VP Talent & Culture this role is responsible for improving the employee experience specifically through effective communications. Through defining and developing innovative ways to engage employees aligned with Lurie Childrens culture the Employee Experience Specialist Sr will execute on internal campaigns to communicate our People strategy programs and policies to employees while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and messaging.

This role will collaborate with other teams across the organization such as Communications and Marketing. They will develop and align leadership messaging create change communications and draft people presentations for key leadership and organizational meetings. Other key responsibilities include supporting initiatives related to all aspects of human resources including issues management culture total rewards employment branding and learning programs. The Employee Experience Specialist Sr will put a strong focus on integrating Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) into all aspects of employee communications.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide executive communications support to the Human Resources team including drafting and disseminating organization-wide announcements talking points podcasts slide decks and social media posts and presence (e.g. LinkedIn).
  • Partner with the Communications team on effective messaging relating to HR strategy programs and operations. Support change management needs.
  • Lead all internal People-related communications projects and campaigns collaborating closely with key stakeholders to understand goals; manage timing and implementation of all communications sent by the People Team.
  • Support implementation of Employee Value Proposition.
  • Design and support maintenance of People-related SharePoint sites.
  • Identify and manage external employer recognition awards.
  • Support internal employee recognition awards and designations.
  • Proactively identify communications opportunities and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain content for current internal employee communication channels and portals; identify and recommend new channels.
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications to continually evolve our narrative as an employer of choice leverage our EVP and using storytelling to bring the employee experience to life.
  • Partner with People Team leaders and managers to develop communications plans and materials for company-wide HR initiatives (e.g. engagement survey performance review cycle compensation planning benefits open enrollment HR policy changes & enhancements learning programs etc.)
  • Build and maintain relationships with a diverse set of internal stakeholders to increase visibility and improve the quality of communications throughout the organization.
  • Review and analyze data to measure effectiveness impact and engagement of communications programs and special projects.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • A Bachelors degree is required preferably in Communications Marketing Human Resources Management or a related field. Advanced degree in a related field a plus.
  • 5 years of experience working with diverse employee groups writing/editing and developing internal campaigns for a range of different audiences is required. Experience providing communications support for Human Resources or related functions such as Diversity Equity & Inclusion or Learning & Development is strongly desired.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to synthesize and simply complex information for multiple audiences and craft compelling stories.
  • Executive communications experience with a knack for adopting a leaders authentic voice.
  • Have the change management experience needed to support the organization from awareness to adoption.
  • Excellent project and time management skills including organizing and planning; ability to flex to changing demands and manage multiple priorities.
  • Have a customer-focused mindset with well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • Stay informed about best practices trends and developments in HR and internal communications.
  • Problem-solving skills including the ability to perceive and analyze problems and develop alternative solutions.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion when making decisions.
  • Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion; and the confidence and comfort to provide specific recommendations to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Have strong analytical skills and technical acumen including ability to gather organize develop and present data and metrics to help us story tell with data and measure the effectiveness of our work.
  • Advanced skills with MS Office along with basic photo editing skills; SharePoint experience preferred; Adobe Creative Suite and other audiovisual design experience is a plus.

At Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
