Description of Work

Salary Grade: NC21 Salary Range: $67996 - $132593
Management prefers applicants with the following:
Experience managing multiple projects and scheduling and directing multiple work crews
Experience using of professional engineering skills and knowledge to trouble shoot and solve highway maintenance problems
Experience tracking cost expenditures in various account systems on multiple large projects
Experience conducting meetings with employees citizens and public officials to conduct investigations and resolve various issues
Customer service experience related to resolving problems that involve explaining engineering concepts to various customer groups.
Additional Expectations:
Ability to supervise and monitor maintenance programs to ensure efficient and safe use of personnel equipment and materials;to formulate a comprehensive highway maintenance program within limits of budget;supervise and evaluate the performance of other employees;communicate effectively; and maintain positive working relationships. Work includes emergency situations nights and weekends. Must have the ability to traverse steep and uneven terrain. Will be subject to highvolumes of traffic and extreme temperatures/weather conditions. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Safety toe footwear required.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.EEO Statement
