Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Thefundamental reason this classification exists is to perform technical andsupervisory work in administering municipal buildings codes and zoningordinance. The employee in this class is responsible for ensuring adherence toand enforcing applicable building codes and ordinances relative to buildingconstruction maintenance and safety. Supervision is over a group of full-timeemployees. Decisions are usually made independently but are subject to reviewby the Chief Building Official. The work responsibilities include conferringand corresponding with architects engineers building owners contractors andthe general public regarding code requirements; supervising two or morefull-time employees; reviewing permit applications drawings specifications andanswering questions relative to building code requirements; enforcing zoningregulations and coordinates the issuance of required permits; and reviewingplans specifications and making on-site inspections of buildings and variousother structures. The employee in this classification reports to the ChiefBuilding Official.
High SchoolDiploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Ten (10) years supervisory experience inconstruction and/or engineering/architectural work including experience inreading building plans.
