The position

Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of Marketing and Communications Advisor.

Reporting to the Director Marketing & Communications the Marketing and Communications Advisor is a collaborative energetic and detail-oriented member of the team.

This position will take a lead role in developing and implementing a wide range of marketing and communications strategies that support the business objectives of the Scotiabank Centre and Halifax Convention Centre. Working as part of an integrated communications team you will have the opportunity to lead and support a variety of activities including stakeholder outreach advertising and social media campaigns media buys and preparing communications plans and related materials for upcoming announcements and events.

What youll do

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the Halifax Convention Centre and Scotiabank Centres marketing and communications strategies through a variety of initiatives.
  • Proactive management of assigned projects including the development of communications plans and marketing activities along with required timeline and budget management.
  • Oversight and management of all communication channels including content creation.
  • Provide proactive management of Scotiabank Centres digital media strategy to deliver an integrated user experience across multiple channels including email marketing social media websites text campaigns and more.
  • Oversee an integrated marketing program that includes media buys and promoter support content development photography bookings email marketing campaigns and Ticketmaster marketing automation.
  • Support the implementation of the Halifax Convention Centres marketing strategy with a focus on planned sales and marketing activities and campaigns targeting key international and national audiences.
  • Other communication initiatives as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

You are an excellent writer and highly skilled at telling clear and compelling stories. You enjoy working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment where you bring fresh ideas and produce high-quality communications products. You have an eye for detail and are comfortable customizing content for various audiences and platforms.

Education and Experience:

  • University degree or diploma in public relations communications or marketing.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education experience skills and knowledge will be considered.

Job Specific/Technical Knowledge

  • Excellent communication writing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong logic analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced team player who enjoys working collaboratively and brings innovative ideas to the table.
  • Experience working with social media in a business setting including content creation planning and reporting.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in website management Google Analytics reporting email distribution systems and various CMS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail highly organized and superior project management skills with demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience with MailChimp and Survey Monkey.
  • Confidence in evaluating options and making strong recommendations on proposed solutions.
  • Agency experience an asset.

Note: Due to the nature of the events industry and the requirements of this role the position will require flexible working hours with some evening and weekend commitments.
