In this role youll carry key responsibilities that empower faster safer recoveries. You will initiate and maintain airway support as needed continuously monitor vitals oxygenation hemodynamics and pain control and promptly identify and manage nausea delirium bleeding or airway compromise. Youll assess patient status in collaboration with anesthesia and surgical teams document recovery progress and prepare patients for discharge to the floor or to home when appropriate. Youll contribute to accurate handoffs optimize equipment readiness and uphold sterile technique while supporting family education about post-anesthesia care activity planning and warning signs to watch for. The environment is fast-paced but your clinical judgment calm communication and meticulous documentation ensure safety and continuity of care for every patient. As you evolve in this specialty youll find pathways to leadership roles within PACU involvement in unit-based quality improvement projects and opportunities to tutor or mentor new travelers and staff.
