Job Summary:

As the Unit Clerk you will perform reception clerical and supportive duties in the patient care area.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs all duties within job scope in accordance with standards or care policies & procedures and regulatory guidelines. Performs select clinical procedures within delegated parameters.
  • Collaborates with all members of the health care team and physician offices to promote a seamless patient care continuum. Facilitates prompt efficient patient services through organizing prioritizing and performing clerical activities.
  • Prepares and maintains patient records according to standards / policy. Transcribes orders using the appropriate department forms and hospital abbreviations in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Operates equipment necessary to perform job duties.
  • Demonstrates good phone etiquette perceived as helpful / friendly to all customers. Fields phone inquiries appropriately. Displays professionalism at all times and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Orders supplies and maintains inventory and par-levels assigned.
  • Compiles statistical information for monthly quarterly and annual reports and surveys as assigned.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent
  • Skills: Must be able to read write and speak the English language. Must have keyboard skills and be able to accurately complete data entry and filing. Must demonstrate a high level of mental and emotional tolerance with the ability to function quickly and precisely in stressful situations. Must be able to deal effectively with a changing environment and be open to new ideas
