Job Summary

Lynas Rare Earths is an established ethical and environmentally responsible producer of rare earth materials being the worlds only significant producer of separated rare earth materials outside of China and one of the first processing facilities in Australia. Our Western Australian rare earths mine at Mt Weld (near Laverton) supplies concentrate to the newly built Kalgoorlie plant boasting a life of mine of more than 25 years and substantially adding to the long-term sustainability of the Goldfields region.

The Career Opportunity:

Lynas Kalgoorlie is seeking a quality-driven and motivated experienced Laboratory Analyst who wants exposure to the exciting world of the rare earths industry. The lanthanides come with their own unique set of dissolution and spectroscopic challenges that presents opportunity for ongoing method development and process improvement.

The Laboratory (KLAB) is a high-tech analytical facility where you will have the opportunity to gain and then use your knowledge and experience to provide reliable accurate and timely analytical data to the plant.

This opportunity will be offered on an even time 7:7 dayshift roster with the flexibility to on occasion adjust to working both day and night shift rotations to cover Annual leaves of other analysts or to meet business needs.

Tasks you will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Receiving and registering samples in the Lab information (LIMS) system
  • Collaborating with a variety of stakeholders across the business
  • Preparing all required laboratory testing reagents standards and perform standardization of reagents.
  • Conducting routine sample analysis (as per sampling plan) and non-routine sample analysis when required accurately and timely.
  • Calibrating troubleshooting operating and maintaining high-end analytical equipment/instruments including XRF IPCOES ICPMS amongst others.
  • Ensuring that analytical testing results are transferred electronically or entered manually into the LIMS system and authorised.
  • Undertake projects to optimise plant performance.
  • Working independently on specials or method development projects as assigned by the Senior Analyst or Chief Chemist.

About you:

  • A Tertiary qualification or accreditation in Chemistry or a similar relevant discipline is desired.
  • Previous experience within a minerals laboratory would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge and prior experience in using XRF ICPOES ICPMS instruments viewed favourably.
  • Unwavering approach to safety leadership and excellent housekeeping.
  • Motivated and able to take initiative working both independently or within the team.
  • Reside within the Goldfields region for our residential opportunity.
  • Possesses Full Australian Working Rights and able to commit to the full-time 7/7 roster.
