Job Summary

IB Coordinator

Full-time Senior School Leidschenveen

The IB Coordinator has the overarching responsibility for ensuring that the teaching and learning will be in line with the principles and practices of the Diploma (DP) and Career-Related (CP) programmes. The Coordinator has a pivotal role in the collaborative planning process taking responsibility for ensuring that pedagogical aspects are discussed information is disseminated and the programmes are planned taught and assessed collaboratively and the highest level of standards in accordance with our school vision mission and values.

The IB coordinator and Deputy Headteacher work closely and collaboratively in the implementation and running of the IBDP and IBCP programmes.

The role will initially be based at Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) and may require the candidate to work in another campus in the future).

Key Accountabilities:

Ensuring integrity of the IB programmes and communicating with staff.

  • Disseminate relevant up to date information regarding the IB programmes and Core Values including but not limited to curriculum developments administrative changes and relevant sections from IBDP and IBCP publications such as sections from the Programme Coordinator Notes Programme Assessment Procedures and Standards and Practices.

  • Ensure the IB programmes are implemented correctly and align with the IB Standards and Practices.

  • Lead and organize the re-accreditation process including managing any school visits resulting from the IB.

  • Inform teachers of the required and necessary professional development to meet DP and CP requirements and enable the necessary arrangements.

  • Maintain accurate records of what training has been undertaken.

  • Collaborate in establishing an assessment calendar and deadlines to ensure that assessments and workloads are spread as evenly as possible.

  • Monitor the delivery of the programme to ensure assessment deadlines and requirements are met.

  • Organize and chair collaborative meetings for IB teachers with the Deputy Headteacher.

  • Manage the access and encourage use of MYIB amongst IB DP and CP teachers.

  • Ensure Core requirements of both programmes are met by supporting and collaborating with the relevant leads.

  • Act as liaison (SBC) with Pamoja in supporting the IBDP provisions for students and oversea department staff involved in this.

  • Leading the arrangements for the SSL year 11 options evening including coordinating the updating of the curriculum information provided and leading the presentation to students and parents as well as handling of general enquiries relating to this.

Supporting students and parents.

  • Ensure students and parents are introduced and informed about the IB Programme General Regulations and emphasize the importance of complying with IB deadlines.

  • Require students to understand requirements regarding academic honesty and disseminate any necessary information. Enlist parental support for achieving academic honesty.

  • Use data to monitor and track student progress. Take a proactive approach to recognising student successes while also organising actions to tackle underperformance.

  • Work collaboratively with the Careers Department to support students with university applications and follow through with IB procedures for sending results to universities.

  • Ensure parents are aware of students work requirements and the DP & CP Core requirements (CAS ToK EE CE RP PPS LCS).

  • Working with the Head of Year 12 and 13 to deliver additional transition events for year 11 including the sixth form taster day and sixth form transition day.

  • Supporting students with subject or curriculum change requests and coordinating action in relation to these.

Other

  • Plan for the long-term improvement and enhancement of the DP and CP within the school.

  • Make recommendations regarding professional development opportunities on and off campus in accordance with the schools budget action plan and yearly goals.

  • Regularly conduct general (or specific) sessions about the DP and CP for the whole school community and for interest groups within the community for example parent information sessions.

  • Publish articles pertaining to the program in the school newsletter and promote the IBDP and CP through the school website.

  • Provide outreach to the wider IB community and other IB coordinators through discussion forums emails and hosting visits from other schools.

  • Gain a working understanding of opportunities within the Dutch Educational System to support students and further continue studies.

  • Ensure that school practices and curriculum development include the hallmarks of international mindedness that are embedded in the IB learner profile.

There is a teaching commitment associated with this post so candidates are asked to indicate their specialist subject area in the application. Ability to offer Chemistry Maths PE Business BTEC Italian German or Dutch may be an advantage.
