Contract: permanent

Working hours: 35 hours per week is full time. Where possible we are open to considering part time/flexible working patterns. Please let us know in your application your desired working pattern.

Salary: 47000 - 54500 depending on experience and location.

Location: Open to London Coventry Manchester locations.

Reporting to: Lead Analyst

About Us:

The Financial Ombudsman Service is an independent not-for-profit organisation that plays a vital role in UK financial services. Every day we help resolve disputes between consumers or small businesses and their financial service providers.

As part of amaturingdiverse Analysis and Insightfunction you will support the implementation and growth of a data led strategy withinthe Financial Ombudsman Data and InsightAnalystyou will be asked to lead ona number ofkey analytical work areas as part of a central analyticalteamwith the primary aim of using your analytical and insight skills to support the organisation in making the best decisions from the best evidence. This is a key role within our Analysis and Insight function which will help us to drive evidence-based decisions across the Financial Ombudsman Service and build our capacity and capability across a range of analytical tools and approaches.

What Youll Do:

  • Delivering against your personalobjectives and your contribution to our commitments.

  • Driving evidence-based decisions through analysis and insight both reactive from the needs of the Service and proactive from your own initiative and business knowledge.

  • Maintaining excellent business knowledge alongside an understanding of a range of analytical toolsmethodologiesand approaches with a key focus on systems thinking and integrative solutioning.

  • Ensuring your analysis and the data it is based on is quality assured documented and fit-for-purpose seeking feedback and opportunities for continuous QA the analytical work of others in the wider team whenrequired.

  • As required leading on crosscutting analytical projects and supporting project work across the organisation where there are data analysis requirements.

  • Making sure data is managed appropriately including accessqualityand retention.

  • Supporting and mentoring other analysts in the delivery of their workstreams.

  • Delivering a fair and efficient service that reflects the diversity of our customers and our people.

To be considered for this role youll need to show us that youve got the skills and capabilities. Youll have to meet the following minimum criteria:

Minimum Criteria

  • A strong record of impact through analysis ideally in alargeorganisation that prides itself on customer service.

  • Experience ofleadingand delivering a portfolio of analytical work through your own analytical andproblem-solvingskills andsupporting the analysis of others.

  • The ability towork with ambiguityfocusing on the big picture and eliciting the key issue from stakeholders or situations so your and others analyticalexpertisedrives evidence-based improvements.

  • Knowledge(Math/Stats degree or aligned qualification preferred)and practical experience of a range of quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques withexpertiseinseveralspecific technical areas (for example:SQL Python and/ or Rmathematical modellingsampling and statistical theorysystems thinking and operational research methods).

  • Strong communicationskills both verbal and written youcanexplain your ideas in a way the decision makers understand and can act on.

  • Attentionto detailcoupled with astrong quality assurance focus to ensureaccuratesolution deliverythat meets the stated requirements.
