Vista Medical Center is seeking a reliable and motivated Maintenance Engineer to join our Plant Operations team. This role plays a key part in ensuring a safe functional and welcoming environment for our patients visitors and staff by performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs to buildings systems and equipment.
The Maintenance Engineer performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on hospital facilities and equipment. This position supports daily operations by responding to work orders maintaining safety standards and providing excellent service in alignment with Vistas Standards of Behavior.
Demonstrate AIDET communication and consistently uphold Vista Healths Standards of Behavior including Attitude Appearance Communication Customer Waiting Privacy Safety Awareness Responsiveness Service Recovery and Sense of Ownership.
Maintain a professional customer-focused approach when interacting with staff patients visitors and vendors.
Follow all organizational departmental and regulatory standards.
Participate in meetings trainings and required competencies.
Accept and apply instruction coaching and feedback.
Stay current with professional practices through ongoing education.
Assist with preventative and corrective maintenance of buildings systems and equipment.
Perform minor repairs on patient care and transportation equipment such as beds carts wheelchairs stretchers and tray tables.
Assist with repairs to medical gas systems sterilizers and operating tables.
Perform basic plumbing repairs including faucets sinks toilets piping valves and drainage components.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment including lighting refrigeration units dietary equipment control devices and distribution panels.
Adjust thermostats and temperature controls.
Install orthopedic traction setups.
Hang shelves pictures and move furniture or supplies as needed.
Accurately document all completed work in the computerized maintenance management system.
Complete work orders preventative maintenance forms and activity sheets daily.
Assist with snow removal when needed.
Complete special projects safely and professionally.
Maintain confidentiality and adapt to operational changes as required.
Perform all tasks in a manner that ensures personal and workplace safety.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Trade or vocational training in plumbing or electrical work preferred.
No prior experience required.
Basic knowledge of hand tools and proper tool usage.
Ability to read and understand technical manuals safety documents and operational procedures.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting walking bending climbing and carrying equipment.
None required.
Frequent walking standing bending lifting (050 lbs) and pushing (0300 lbs).
Occasional climbing kneeling squatting lifting/carrying 50 lbs.
Must be able to see with corrective lenses and hear clearly with assistance if needed.
May be exposed to infectious diseases and emergency situations.
May require irregular hours and use of protective equipment.
Travel to other Vista Health System locations may be required.
On-call and call-in coverage is required and may support the home department or other Vista Health locations.
