Description of Work
This position functions at or above the journey level and is responsible for highly technical troubleshooting repair and maintenance of equipment used to support the Division of State Historic Sites. This position is responsible for training advising and overseeing the work of various site staff as their duties relate to equipment maintenance and service. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the Craftsman motor fleet and all site vehicles tractors mowers and lawn equipment. Employees in this unit are required to achieve and maintain a higher-than-normal level of expertise especially when addressing maintenance issues of the vehicle and equipment needs supporting historic structure maintenance or repair.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
AND
two (2) years of experience in the area of assignment
OR
a sufficient year-for- year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82 subpart F.

Section/Unit Description:
The Craft Services Unit within the division of State Historic Sites is responsible for the Divisions Construction / Repair /Maintenance program for both equipment and facilities. All work within the Craft Services Unit is headed by the Divisions
Maintenance Construction Supervisor III (Director of Craft Services) who is under the direct supervision of the Division Director (Assistant Director of State Archives and History).

Resources State Historic Sites Program which includes 27 historic sites across North Carolina and Division offices located in

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
